PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. It seeks to reduce or eliminate negative behavior school-wide through the encouragement of positive behaviors. We believe that recognizing and rewarding students will not only motivate students to become more involved, but will also help promote a more positive school environment. Studies show that when students are involved, they are more likely to perform better academically, have fewer disciplinary issues, and attend school more consistently.
We use 5-Star Students to support our PBIS initiative on campus. The 5-Star Student platform allows our staff members to recognize any student, anywhere for meeting our C.H.A.R.G.E. behavior expectations: Be Compassionate, Honorable, Accountable, Responsible, and Engaged Citizens. When a student displays a behavior that is expected, or participates in events and activities on campus, the student will receive points in their 5-Star digital "bank". The points earned throughout the year can be used to purchase rewards from our PBIS 5-Star Student Store.
Because there’s a strong correlation between involvement in school activities and student achievement, students can also earn a wide variety of perks and privileges for participating in activities and attending events.
Every student registered in 5-Star Students has access to their own Digital ID. The virtual ID can be found in the student app within the "My ID" tab. The ID includes the following features:
Lists the student's name, grade, and photo (if available).
Provides a unique QR code, or traditional barcode for checking into events.
Displays the student's ID number.
Displays the student's activity badges, which are achieved by participating in school clubs, sports teams, etc.
Students can register & obtain their Digital ID, track their points, and redeem points for rewards by downloading the 5-Star app or at our 5-Star website.
